We recently completed a pilot-scale direct push injection to address VOC groundwater contamination at a project in Orange County.
The selected amendment remedy included Tersus EDS-ER for VOC treatment. The vegetable oil-based electron donor, along with EDS Activator, TersOx Nutrients-QR, Isopropyl Alcohol, Vitamin B-12 supplement, along with a KB-1 bioaugmentation.
Both the mix and flush water were made anaerobic with the use of Newman Zone OS oxygen scavenger. Special handling and safety precautions were implemented during the mixing process, since two of the small quantity amendments were flammable liquids.
We were injecting ~1,200 gallons per point, targeting 5-foot long treatment intervals between 14-29 feet, into 5 simultaneous injection points.
